How to build a deskside analytic data warehouse appliance? Cray and XtremeData

Guest Speaker: Keith Rozmus, Director of Worldwide Sales for Cray's Productivity Solutions Group

XtremeData is leveraging Cray technology, starting with the Cray CX1™ deskside supercomputer, to develop new analytic data warehouse and data mart platforms with availability starting in Q2 of 2010. These innovative platforms will radically change the limitations of performance, size, and scale present in incumbent solutions.

Agenda:

Who is Cray?

What is the CX1?

What are the configuration options?

What exactly did XtremeData do with it?

What is a deskside analytic data warehouse appliance?

What does it do for me?

Where can I see one and how can I do a POC?

Questions and Answers

Cray is focused on delivering innovative, next-generation products that integrate diverse processing technologies into a unified architecture. The Cray CX1 deskside supercomputer has been named "Best HPC Cluster Solution or Technology" by the editors of HPCwire as part of the publication's 2009 Readers' and Editors' Choice Awards.

Top 5 Ways to Increase Analytics and Ad Hoc Query Capabilities

Recorded on Thursday, May 27, 2010 @ 12PM CST

Presenter: Geno Valente, XtremeData’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Ali Sajanlal, XtremeData’s Director of Analytics Applications

Agenda: XtremeData will discussed the Top 5 Ways to Increase Analytics and Ad Hoc Capabilities:

1. Analytics Sandbox - Allows analytics users to bring data from disparate places into one environment, and perform SQL based analytics.

2. Adjunct to EDW - allows DW managers to offload ad hoc queries, data analysis and exploration applications from high TCO EDW environments to very low TCO, high performance data warehouse appliances.

3. Live-Archive / Disaster Recovery - Allows for a very cost effective DW Disaster Recovery solution, as well as a continuous/live archive where enterprise data can be maintained permanently in an always accessible manner.

4. Hub-Spoke Analytics Architecture - 100’s of TB in Data Center with 1’s of TB in Desk-side.

5. Analytics in One - Third Party Analytical Tools can be co-hosted with dbX.
