DSS Application Specialist

On July 27th, 2009, XtremeData emerged from stealth mode development and unveiled the dbX Analytics Appliance. XtremeData will be engaged in several Proof-Of-Concept (POC) engagements with well-known, Fortune 100 enterprises.

We are currently looking for an exceptional individual to take the leadership role in structuring and managing these POC engagements. Exceptional performance will receive exceptional rewards.

Responsibilities

We recognize the vital importance of the successful completion of early POC projects and therefore regard this position as a key strategic role for the corporation.

This individual will have high visibility and will receive the full backing of upper management.  In turn, we expect that this individual will have superior technical and personal skills and will possess the enthusiasm and drive to achieve the objectives

The POC projects will be focused on multi-terabyte class of databases in the “Decision Support Systems (DSS)” market space.  The candidate is expected to:
  • be knowledgeable and experienced  in SQL, C/C++, Java, Linux tools and scripting languages.
  • be fluent in DSS application development, including interfacing third party Business Intelligence (BI) tools to RDBMS systems.
  • have excellent communication skills and is expected to understand and analyze the customer’s application domain and their specific requirements.
  • work closely with the customer to help design the POC project, develop a detailed implementation plan and specify clearly-defined results to be achieved.
  • work hands-on, along with other XDI and customer resources as required, to implement the plan and deliver the results.

This position will of necessity require customer-facing interactions and a certain amount of travel.  The candidate will work closely with senior Sales and Marketing staff.

Beyond the POC engagements, it is expected that this position will evolve into the practice leader for the in-house application consulting services group.  In this role, the individual should expect to staff up and train a team of application specialists, with the objective of building a profitable services business unit.

Qualifications

We expect the ideal candidate will:

  • have a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the application domain.
  • have a degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • be capable of producing professional-quality written reports.
  • be comfortable conducting audio-visual presentations to senior executives at customer sites.
